New Year’s Goal Setting
By Kevin Donlin | January 4th, 2008
If you’re reading this, you’ve probably resolved to find a new job in 2008, or, at the very least, not to bring your hunting rifle to work.
If the former describes you, here’s a great tip I learned from Brian Tracy re: setting and achieving goals.
It’s this: write out your Top 10 List of goals first thing every morning.
Why? Your goals get imprinted more deeply on your subconscious when you write and read them. And doing this every morning is the best way I know to set your course for the day and start off motivated.
Write your goals in the present tense, with a date, like this:
I am a customer service manager, earning $45,000 or more, in a terrific job, by March 1, 2008.
Here’s another goal-setting tidbit … from an article by Gary Ryan Blair.
Blair writes:
Those who stay the course and fulfill their resolutions share these characteristics:
1. They believe in their ability to change.
2. They did not indulge in self-blame or excuse making.
3. They avoid wishful thinking and concentrate on results.
4. They understand their motivators and reasons why the resolution is important.
Does that sound like you? To learn more, read the whole article here.
